Make sandals with Stace at one of her favorite leather venues in California, Make Smith, where we will spend the day crafting our very own pair of handmade leather sandals. Steven Soria’s retail/workshop is so inspiring to work in, and his leather knowledge runs deep - he’s a third generation leather craftsman. Stace learns something new every time she’s there.

Handcrafting leather sandals is a traditional way of shoemaking that has been practiced for centuries all around the world. Come learn how to do this special craft yourself!  No experience is necessary, Stace will provide all the tools & supplies you’ll need.  See photos of past workshops HERE

In this workshop you will learn to make your own custom pair of sandals made from sturdy leather soles & heels and supple leather straps and insoles.  Together we will explore the sandal-making process, from cutting the straps to fitting them to your own feet.

You will choose from a handful of simple sandal designs that are easy for beginners to master, and I’ll bring four different leather colors: black, espresso, caramel, natural.  Stace will also bring an assortment of smaller colorful bits of leather to use as embellishments or accents.

At the end of the day we will sand down the edges, refining the fit and finishing your sandals.  You will be able to walk away from the workshop in your custom handmade sandals! You will also leave with an outline of the sandal making process and a list of suppliers if you’d like to continue with sandal making.
