Join Stace at Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento for an evening sandal making workshop! In this workshop you will learn to make your own custom pair of sandals made from sturdy leather soles & 0.5" heels and supple leather straps and insoles. Together we will explore the sandal-making process, from cutting the straps to fitting them to your own feet. No experience is necessary, Stace will bring all the tools & supplies you'll need.  View photos of past sandal making workshops & student-made sandals HERE and read student testimonials HERE

We will reference a handful of simple sandal designs as a jumping off point for making your pair of dream sandals. You can choose to keep it simple and make the design as-is, or modify & customize your design to your heart’s content! If you are set on creating a specific design, we can usually make it happen.

Stace will bring the basic leather colors: black, espresso, caramel, and natural vegetable tanned leather, as well as an assortment of colorful leather & suede.

Over the course of making your sandals, you will also learn the basics of leather crafting and you will become familiar with the essential tools and supplies of shoemaking. If you have ever wanted to learn how to make your own shoes, this sandal making workshop is a great introduction to the processes and tools you would use to construct shoes.

As you finish your sandals, we will sand down the edges, refining the fit and the finish. You will be able to walk away from the workshop in your custom handmade sandals! You will also take away an outline of the sandal making process and a list of suppliers if you’d like to continue with sandal making.

Where: Verge Center for the Arts, 625 S St, Sacramento, CA 95811

When: Friday, June 14th, 5pm-9pm

What to bring: working hands and outfits! We will be cutting, kneeling, bending and standing during the sandal making process so wear something comfortable. Bring a water bottle and snacks to keep you going. It’s best if you wear sandals since we will be getting barefoot frequently.

Fee: $215 ( $190 for Verge members). Includes everything you need to walk away with your very own pair of handmade sandals! All tools, leather, patterns, supplies, and materials will be provided. Sign up HERE
