Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own shoes? Learn this special craft yourself in this one-day sandal making workshop!  Join me at The Row DTLA at  Maker’s Mess!  No experience is necessary, I will provide all the tools & supplies so you can make your own pair of custom leather sandals that are fit to your own feet.  See photos of past sandal making workshops & student’s sandals HERE

In this workshop you will learn to make your own custom pair of sandals made from sturdy leather soles, 0.5” stacked leather heels and supple leather straps and insoles.  Together we will explore the sandal-making process, from cutting the straps to fitting them to your own feet. Over the course of making your sandals, you will also learn the basics of leather crafting and you will become familiar with the essential tools and supplies of shoe making.

We will reference a handful of simple sandal designs as a jumping off point for making your pair of dream sandals. You can choose to keep it simple and make a design as-is, or modify & customize your design to your heart’s content!

I’ll bring the basic leather colors: black, espresso, caramel, and natural vegetable tanned leather, as well as an assortment of colorful leather to use for your straps, embellishments and design elements on your sandals.

At the end of the day I will take your sandals to my studio to sand down the edges, refining the fit and finishing the edges.  Your sandals will be ready to pick up the following day at Maker’s Mess or they can be shipped to you for an additional fee of $8 (paid the day-of).
