Come learn to make sandals in this one-day workshop! If you’ve ever wanted to create the perfect sandal for your feet, this class will show you exactly how. No prior experience necessary, we'll ‘walk’ through every step of the process together. You can choose the heel height: I've recently been wearing my handmade wooden heels nonstop, they are very comfortable, walkable, and very make-able! They are about 1.75” high. If heels aren’t your thing, you can also choose to make a classic 0.5" stacked leather heel sandal.
These workshops are always loads of fun, and I'm especially excited to host this one at the gallery space at ctrl + shift in Oakland, a really great collective of all-women artists whom I'm happy to also know as friends. We will raid my leather collection (lots of colors!), use all my tools + supplies (all materials included), and try on sample sandals to help you decide which style you’d like to create. Check out my website stacefulwiler.com for examples of styles you can create. If you have something specific in mind, I can also help you make other simple styles as well. If you already have a vision of what you would like to make, come prepared with photos or drawings so I can assist you in the pattern making process.
In learning to construct your pair of sandals, you will also learn basic leather working tips & techniques, and get acquainted with the tools and supplies used in shoemaking. After this workshop, you’ll have your own self-made pair of sandals AND the knowledge to continue making sandals, if you so desire! Both men and women welcome to attend.
