Join me at the MacArthur Annex courtyard (home of my studio along with many other local creative people) for a day of sandal making. If you've every wanted to learn shoe making, or simply want to spend a day working with your hands building something both beautiful and utilitarian, this workshop is for you.
No prior experience is necessary; I will walk you through every step of the process. We will use all the tools, materials, and many different types of leather in my studio.
During the workshop, you will learn how to make your very own pair of customized sandals made entirely from leather. We will use leather soles, leather heels, and leather uppers and you will learn how to work with these unique materials. We will use the best quality leather to create sandals that are comfortable and will last a very long time! You will use your own feet to figure out the fit and design, and you'll use your own style preferences to inspire and refine the details. We will use the designs on my website as a jumping off point, though you can also create other simple styles that you are inspired by.
After this workshop, you'll have the knowledge to continue sandal making if you so desire, and I will provide you with an outline of everything we learned in the workshop including list of local businesses that sell leather and shoe making supplies.
